My mom grew up in a very disadvantaged neighborhood. I didn’t grow up in the best neighborhoods. As a latchkey kid who grew up in the NYC public schools, I knew I had to make it out of areas where most lack the resources to succeed. Seeing her severely ill is what sparked my interest in a healthcare career.
