Can We Select “Better” Residents?

Publish a journal article; OK. They fill journals with articles that do nothing for medicine but only add a line to a CV. They spend money on test prep courses and needle their teachers into inflating grades. To some extent, I think this is mostly what we already do in admission/selection committees. [ii]

How medical school fails students

The medical college admission test contains many irrelevant questions that have nothing to do with being a doctor. At the same time, some standardized testing is likely needed as a test of cognitive ability and a prediction of the ability to pass future examinations and complete clerkships.
